Chapter History
The Gamma Rho chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at Arizona State University was the second national sorority invited to be a part of the Panhellenic community. Gamma Rho was the first active chapter of Alpha Delta Pi in Arizona, installed on October 14, 1950. We have now been on campus for 68 consecutive years!
The sisterhood of Alpha Delta Pi is a promise of lifelong friendship and unforgettable memories. To become an ΑΔΠ is to surround yourself with women who strive to improve themselves on a daily basis, embracing the principles of scholarship, leadership, service to others, and sisterhood. Life as an Alpha Delta Pi offers eternal friendships, an amazing college experience, and most importantly, a home away from home.
National History
Our story begins in 1851 at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia, where six incredible women changed the world.
Led by Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald, our founders formed The Adelphean Society for “the mental, moral, social, and domestic improvement of its members.” The Adelphean Society, later renamed Alpha Delta Pi, was the first secret society for college women.
The principles of scholarship, leadership, sisterhood, and service guide over 235,000 women in more than 150 active collegiate chapters and over 150 alumnae associations of Alpha Delta Pi.
167 Years of Tradition
On May 15, 1851 Alpha Delta Pi, was founded in Macon, Georgia. We were the first sorority to be established. This past May we celebrated 167 years of our wonderful organization. The traditions that were created 167 years ago are now upheld by our newest members. Same traditions, new members, and continuous memories.
